Antenatal Sonography Toolkit (AST)

This statement explains how accessible the Antenatal Sonography Toolkit (AST) is, where it does not yet meet the required standard, and what Decision Data Ltd is doing to improve it.

01Using the AST

Decision Data Ltd wants as many people as possible to be able to use the AST. We have designed it with clear language, a simple layout and standard interface controls. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

02How accessible the AST is

Compliance status

We are working towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 Level AA standard. The AST has not yet been formally evaluated against WCAG 2.2 AA, so we are not currently able to claim full compliance.

The AST was built with accessibility in mind and was reviewed informally with a multidisciplinary clinical team during the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust pilot. A full assessment is still needed to confirm which parts of the AST meet WCAG 2.2 AA and to identify any that do not. Our plan and timeline for completing that assessment are set out in section 04.

03Non-accessible content

Because a full WCAG 2.2 AA assessment has not yet been completed, we cannot yet list the specific parts of the AST that may not meet the standard. We will identify any non-accessible content through the assessment described below, publish it in this statement, and set out how and by when we will fix it.

04What we are doing to improve accessibility

We are committed to meeting WCAG 2.2 AA. Our plan is:

By 31 December 2026: Complete a WCAG 2.2 AA assessment of the AST, using recognised automated testing tools together with manual keyboard and screen-reader testing.
By 31 March 2027: Fix the Level A and Level AA issues found, prioritising those that affect core tasks, and re-test.
Ongoing: Update this statement with the results, and keep it current as the AST develops.

If a Trust requires an independent, third-party audit rather than our own assessment, we will arrange one.

05If you cannot access parts of the AST

If you need information about the AST in a different format, such as accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio recording or braille, please contact emily@decisiondata.org.uk. We will consider your request and aim to respond within one month.

06Reporting accessibility problems

We are always looking to improve the accessibility of the AST and its training materials. If you find any problems, or think we are not meeting accessibility requirements, please contact emily@decisiondata.org.uk so we can put it right.

07Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) enforces the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. If you are not happy with how we respond to your complaint, you may wish to contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

08How we tested the AST, and preparation of this statement

This statement was prepared in July 2026. It is based on an internal review of the AST by the Decision Data team and on informal testing with clinical users during the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust pilot. The AST has not yet been tested by an external organisation against WCAG 2.2 AA. This statement was approved by Dr Emily Fraser-Mackenzie, Clinical Safety Officer. We will review and update it after the WCAG 2.2 AA assessment described in section 04.
